When you are a Utah Extended Family Photographer and it is in the middle of a record-breaking heatwave, you need to get creative. Especially when your family can only meet in the middle of the day. This is what happened with the awesome Jones family. The family could only meet at 2:00 in the afternoon because one family was flying in from Amsterdam that morning, they were having a luncheon, and then there was a groom's dinner that evening. The next day was a family wedding.
It took some creative investigating on my part. The luncheon was in Lindon, Utah and they wanted family photos right after. I searched all the local parks, but between the harsh sun and the hundred-degree temperatures, nothing was working. I finally came up with Cooks Greenhouse. One of the greenhouses has fans running and it was quite comfortable. Also, the lighting was diffused and quite lovely.
As I mentioned, the Jones family was gathered for a family wedding. Their youngest son was getting married the next day. Instead of a traditional family luncheon, they all got together at a reception center, played games, and ate yummy food. We met after for the family photos. One of the families lives in Amsterdam and so the family very rarely gets together and so it was a perfect time for family photos.
Cooks Greenhouse was such a fun location for the photos. They let you pretty much have free reign of the place. All the flowers were blooming and it was a unique setting. My first job was working in a greenhouse which gave me a true love of flowers and plants. It was so much fun to be in this wonderful atmosphere again!
This is what happens when you fly with three kids all night from Amsterdam!
